Just to be clear I would like, as said below, CRFC to be strong and successful - it's good for all clubs in the North to have the example of a club who can play at a high level in the league set-up.

Johnson3/5/2010 4:44pm

Flaveat Oriel, you raise some good points there. Its just a shame nobody from the club ever replies on here.
Flaveat Oriel2/5/2010 8:43pm

I suspect that this won't be posted but for what it's worth my view as a close neighbour of CRFC and somebody who sees a succesful CRFC as being a component of strong north rugby is that the non-happening of CRFC sevens is simply a symptom of a club which has lost its way. The website is revealing - no change of editorial except updates lifted from the local rag and less than a dozen guestbook posts since November. Not much indication of a club that's closely involved in community life to be honest.

The overall impression is of a first XV and not a lot else.

Best o luck to U18 in Caley Youth cup semi tomorrow 01/05/10. Boys away to Elgin
Johnson28/4/2010 11:52am

Caithness 7s probably failed for the same reason it always does, not enough people working behind the scenes to organise it. Tojo i think you should step up and organise it for next year!
A good 7s needs to be organised well in advance and in my opinion thats where we seem to fall down by leaving it too late so that other teams already have their 7s fixtures decided (thats assuming we havent just scrapped the Caithness 7s completely?).
tojo6/4/2010 6:39pm

More Banter is needed. Why did the caithness 7 fail
Culam Firth2/4/2010 6:21pm

it's a bit quiet here. Some more banter would be good.

Happy 2010 to everyone north of the Ord. Who won the Boxing Day Bash?
xile22/12/2009 1:27am

I've got a funny feeling theres gonna be some fireworks this coming exile match, the greens are as of late looking extreamly GREEN with so many youngsters and so exile virgins taking the field onnn boxing day this will be no ordinary show down as the mighty knighty comes ever closer too his retirement the wolf is at its most fierce when it faces the end. it will certainly be an emotional match after the passing of Donald whom has always had a motivational presence when he stomped the touch line and i have a funny feeling the exiles may just have a few things to prove this year. fielding some old faithfulls and possibly a couple of internationals its always an exciting prospect when Mr Knight crosses the Ord. I look forward to the match with a thirsty anticipation with what should be festive spectical.

Russ Mill19/9/2009 2:44am

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to let you know that my WA rugby club Palmyra have reached the Grand Final of the our local competition and this Sunday will be bringing home the prized silverware that has eluded them for 18 years.

Not only have I had the privilege to assist in coaching this high quality team but I'm delighted to say our very own George Sutherland has featured in the No.7 shirt for the entire season.

On top of the success George and the team has had to this year, this Sunday's game will see George go head to head with the Australian International Number 8 Richard Brown. George as ever is very focused on his role within the team and without doubt will lead from the front in this formidable challenge.

I wish the Caithness Squad, Colin and any of our Exile boys pulling on a shirt this weekend the same success for the season.

Best of Luck George....GO PALY.....GO CAITHNESS!

Russ

Jimbo30/4/2009 1:53am

Having watched the final game of the year, and the fine performance of the young Hamilton, firstly id say it would surprising if he is not put on a contract of some sort with the national academy if not already! Will be doing well to keep a hold of him i would imagine

Think Coach McMillans comments about largely one dimensional play from the opposition, id say although largely true it must be said he must have been watching inside where he wouldnt have felt the wind. Which must have been limiting the ability to play wide rugby! The caithness lads werent exactly playing the ball wide at every opportunity they had, infact i cant remember one occasion they did.

As it turns out, linlithgow must have been doing something well throughout the year, as they were only defeated by the other teams in top three and have scored the most points behind whitecraigs. In addition from their website i noticed they pushed glasgow hawks fairly well! For Jim McMillan to say they will struggle in the league above from the paper may be somewhat at this stage! Possibly bitterness im not sure.....

Based on the game between the two teams it appears they adapted to conditions better and dominated the game clearly from the end result.

Jeremy Sutherland27/4/2009 6:23am

Greetings, Ive been following Caithness from 1200 miles away since I left Scotland in 1992. I spent 18 months in Orkney, Caithness and Sutherland [as you do], while on my O.E., family came from Ramscraigs[ near Dunbeath ]left for NZ in 1850, so long time gone!. Worked in various pubs , farms and a hunting lodge in your area. My Caithness jersey is proudly displayed at my home club house at the MacKenzie RFC, Strathconan Park, Fairlie, South Canterbury, N.Z. If you are over our way drop in for a home sick dram of Old Pultney!, can even play here if you want to. Great to see you climbing the ladder in Scottish Rugby. Is Les Waugh still refereeing?. cheers, Jeremy Sutherland

Good show this season lads, looks like its been a tough one with the lack of players etc.
Reading the match report there, "MacMillan revealed that he plans to give up as coach". Who are the contenders to fill that role then? Is Colin making a comeback as coach?

Will anyone that wants to play for the seconds contact one of the coaches, Ewan or minnie W e have tried sending out text messages and e mails but we are getting little back It may well be that we dont have up to date contact deatils in a lot of cases so please get in touch as the seconds have a full fixture list and we need a second team to give game time to some of the young guys training but not at the first team stage The under 18s have league games as well. The fixtures are on the web site so let us know when you will be available even if you cant get along to training

Positive heads for Saturday boys.
For all supporters, lets see you down at Millbank at 2pm Saturday, get a good crowd going and a good crowd back up to the Royal after for a few...get the team spirit back.
greens supporter27/8/2008 5:12pm

When I read the report in the groat on Friday, my first thought was why are people not turning up at training, and why aren't the club addressing that issue in a more personal way than a report in the groat. If I was a player, then the tone of the report would have just rubbed me up the wrong way. No-one wants to see the club fail, but there are obviously some fundamental problems / issues in why things are not working. There has been so much hard work on and off the pitch in getting the club to where it is, and no-one wants to see that being lost. I just hope that it can be sorted!!!!
Peter Body27/8/2008 12:32pm

As a supporter, I was disappointed to read in the local press that some players have not been attending pre-season training. It is a fact of life that you only get out, what you put in.
This was evident towards the end of last season, when a game hardened team achieved some excellent results and saved themselves from relegation.
Very obviously, it is better to start the season as winners, and avoid relegation issues from the outset, but this demands preparation.
As a sponsor, I am dismayed at such a casual approach. Business people do not back losers and without business sponsorship the Club will quickly fail at a National level.
All players need to understand they are part of a team which is also a unique Caithness brand. They need to take pride in themselves, the team and the County. This requires a commitment to training and ongoing personal development off the pitch and maximum effort on the pitch, if the required results are to be achieved.
I wish you all the best and every success for the coming season.

When does pre season start? Who's doing what this season? Is the back stabbing from all sides going to stop? Caithness rfc is a club for more than just the players and committee without spectators and sponsers there will be no club so if you want to see rugby finish in the county keep going the way things have been the last couple of years and thats what will happening. Everyone needs to forget about the past and concentrate on winning both on and of the pitch or else all the hard work getting to nat 2 is wasted

The Bizness... You posted on the 28th, why did you not go to the AGM that was held on the 29th and raise your concerns there face to face with the "old boys"? rather than hide behind a name, and stir on the website for the world to see, thus having a negative effect on the club. Management skills obviously arent your strong point.

why are all your comments on this message board so negative ? (and thats just the ones that appear) and why can't you say who you are instead of just hiding behind a pseudonym.
Jim McMillan is doing his absolute best and is getting occasional help from Colin, you must realise that Caithness are playing in a division which, not that many years ago would have been an impossible dream.
The team needs positive support and not the ribbing that you seem to relish in.
While I'm at it check your spelling Tonne should be ton I don't think that expression has been metricated yet and bye should be buy, unless you were saying bye bye.
GREEN MEANIE19/2/2008 1:44am

You didn't honestly think you'd get away with a defeat of a tonne and get away with it did yah.
All I can say is WHAT THE!!
A serious look is obviously needed at the senior running of the squad. we all know Jim is out of his depth but he's taken on the challenge that few would. Who would want to follow from Sangster, the guy put his heart and sole into the club for 6 years pushed it till its pinicale and has sacraficed his achievments to boost the next generation. He will easily go down as Caithness Rugby Clubs greatest Achievment. So boys i say this to you you gotta stop thinking about individual glory, stop *****en about, poor coaching, captaincy and training. look inside your selves and play for what that jersey represents. because it seems to me some where along the way the greatness of the green has been lost.
Even if you don't like the man next to you, bye into the jersey, because when you run out on that field, you represent a lot more than the 15.

GREEN MEANY3/1/2008 11:06am

my deepest appologies webmaster, no offence intended. just think the the boys can do with a bit of a ribbing. i'm hard but fair and give credit when credits due. saying that warning noted, keep up the good work, happy new year.

Andrew20/12/2007 11:01pm

I was watching the game on saturday. Fair enough blair missed a couple of difficult kicks from far out but he also scored our only try in pretty much a solo effort. Loyal greens comments are pathetic. you should have to register to post in the guestbook so people without the balls to leave their name cant get involved.
Davvy Jones20/12/2007 8:48am

Exactly Maci, if anyone has any negative comments then please direct them at Ranald and Halde where they would be richly deserved!! Tojo my good man, all is indeed going well, what about yourself? Can always use more volunteers for the Exiles, see you there!!
maci19/12/2007 7:58pm

here loyal green, ur just a fool! blair has been 1 of the better players all season, no 1 wunts to read ur stupid comments, get a grip
Tojo19/12/2007 1:59pm

I will have to Agree with young Davvy Jones. What a Numpty. Blair has been Improving year on year and has become a main stay in a up and coming team. Maybe the Loyal Green should get his boots on and have a Go. Jones hope all is well. You requiring bodies for the exiles games
Davvy Jones19/12/2007 11:16am

I think you would have to question the complete numpty(s) who continually gave away penalties in front of the posts before you question Blair.
Loyal green18/12/2007 9:21pm

After the kicking to posts display from Blair on sat i think it is time we ask where his allegiance is? we all know he played for highland few years back and just wondering if he missed them on purpose.Think the coaches should question him?
former bear14/12/2007 3:47pm

the front row, the heart of the team, do they need to harden up??? maybe no time like sat derby to prove a point. THERE IS EVEN TIME TO GET THEIR HAIR DYED TO A NONE GINGER CODE..
Great Bear13/12/2007 2:07pm

Steve glad to see you are checking up on your soft front row companions, note Lorne out wi a broken hand whats wrong wi strapping it up as a kiwi would have Ranald still as soft keeps braking down arm ankle Lungs. wi now have another Pottinger (Halde)who is in e front row straght from e ski slopes BIT INJURY PRONE TO WI DOGGY HAMMIES AND BROKEN NOSES. Could do wi the mad Kiwi back to toughen up the Front row
Stephen Duval9/12/2007 7:20pm

I see the mighty Caithness have won a few games after my departure. I must have been bad luck. Good luck for the rest of the season. Lorne and Ranald (spelling??) Toughen up

Enjoyed the training on Tuesday, was made welcome despite the fact my ability shines way below the rest of the guys, and Sarah. Enjoyed getting thrown straight into it although I did manage to crack some ribs so might not be back for a few weeks. Maybe you won't want to post this after all, HA HA.
Training3/10/2007 9:00am

Training is now in Halkirk at the indoor riding centre at 7.00pm on tuedsdays and at the all weather pitch at Wick High school on Thursadys again at 7.00pm
as stated by Blair get yourself along as we are very short on the playing front as was demonstrated against Kilmarnock when we were getting people who had come to watch to go home for boots. we need to get a second team up and running for the club to survive at this level .

Jim
Blair1/10/2007 5:24pm

to the commetn below.behave yourself and seeing as ur being critical how about u get ur finger out and get to training instead of slagging the boys that are trying!!!

Jim MacMillan20/9/2007 3:36pm

Rob, Paul and anyone else out there looking to play rugby or come to training.
Training is currently at 6.30pm at the high school in wick on a Tuesday and Thursday from the begining of October we will be inside at The Halkirk indoor riding school on a tuesday and in Wick at the all weather pitch on a Thursday, we are very short on the playing front at the momment with injuries and people working offshore.
The seconds have a few fixtures arranged but we have been unable to get a team out as yet.
If anyone wants to contact me they can by phone on 01847821405 mobile 07799841576
Paul19/9/2007 8:03pm

I'm kind of like Rob earlier. Rugby WC been fantastic and needing a club to join for social and competitive reasoning. Do you need a history of playing rugby to join Caithness RFC

well done against Highland keep working hard and stop the greenland mains farmer (first i heard him called that, usually still in bed when the work is on)from scoring a try. We will never hear the end of it. Settled in Canterbury now, will try and send some kiwis over for next season if needed(better of with homegrown talent)

About the posting re : Viewfirth. There is a big ridge in the middle of the pitch where the stone wall used to be. The stone would need removed from that strip where the wall used to be I reckon.

I played on it a few times and it was a very good surface apart from that part where the wall used to be. Not sure who owns the Viewfirth pitch?

we are doing our best at present with all the injuries we have had. We are competing in games and we will turn it around soon hopefully starting this weekend against glasgow accies.
andrew13/11/2006 11:29pm

whats happening is we are suffering from extensive injury and unavailability problems, especially in key positions. were being forced into moving people around the back divison each week making the line up very unsettled. The boys are trying their best, especially the young boys coming into the side. we need all the support we can get from the sidelines to help us recapture the magic!
Claw13/11/2006 1:57pm

I have got to take exception to recent report in the P&J regarding a fight in Wick where the victim sufferda broken jaw the report staed that Burly Rugby Player -Roddy Gray- had hit some dwarf.
I assume Ian Grant did not report this as he would never have called Mr Gray a rugby player- Goalkeeper perhaps, part time farmer maybe but more likely a boy racer.
I would hope that the club will ask for a retraction on the reports of Big Rod being a rugby player.

3 kids turned up for rugby training at Thurso High School tonight. If there is anyone out there willing to help to try and increase numbers or spread the word around the school please do so. The future of Caithness rugby is the kids and maybe a bit more effort is required by all interested in rugbys future in this county to help improve playing numbers at all levels. A clubhouse and kids games before senior games would be a start. Anyone else with any more bright ideas for the future lets hear about it.

Hey folks,

pretty quiet on here. Just been at training with the Palmyra Club (http://palmyra.rugbynet.com.au/), the coach is more of a task master than Colin. 4x1500km runs while tied to some bugger who is faster than you. Split with 3 minute sprint drills to regain your breath.

Anyway settling in fine, although looking forward to the temp dropping to 22 degrees tomorrow.

Finish the season strong against Lismore.

Supporter3/3/2006 3:14pm

Just heard that the game is off.
A fan3/3/2006 9:48am

Is the kick off against lismore still at 3?
PORTONIAN24/2/2006 9:58am

Could not agree with you more supporter!!But you must remember this was a cup tie and the score does not come into it.With regards to your pitch-yes it needs a lot of work
but i can remember our pitch being in much the same state
and it does take a lot of work from club members.I also agree that there has been too much said on this game and
hopefully we wont hear too much more about it.
Supporter23/2/2006 5:42pm

seems to be fair amount written about bowl game most of it rubbish. A National One side should never be happy about beating a National Three side by only 4 points and not even scoring a try though they did cross line. The pitch maybe a mess but it always has and is a lot better than it was 10 yrs or so ago. To all those who want work done on pitch before club house maybe you should offer your services to the club and help out once in a while. Actions speak louder than words
Groaty23/2/2006 8:32am

Im not going to rise to it mate! The proof is in the score line! If you cant beat a team with only 13 men and one of them being me i dont think you have much to talk aboot!!! Slag me all you like im still sittin here with a smug grin dreamin of murryfield! :)
Jeremy Kyle22/2/2006 11:33pm

Tremble tremble mate!
groatys pal22/2/2006 6:51pm

its the 9 from saturday that count mate....
portonian22/2/2006 4:44pm

just my opinion having met both clubs now..actually meant the whole club ie members and club not just your 1st team. Cant believe you think the referee robbed you though i mean he sent off 2 of our players! how much more help would u like? if you had looked after the ball better you may have faired better- 5 times the ball was taken from the back of your ruck, id be speaking to your scrum half...by the way anyone who has played at waysiders drumpellier will agree your pitch aint the worst. I will see u in falkirk when u come
The Judge22/2/2006 3:46pm

Is there any chance of this bloke groaty speaking at the dinner dance? His words of wisdom and banter is remarkable!! Just looking at the stats there must be a an awful lot of bad pitches in division 1, 125 points scored in 14 games!!!
Groaty22/2/2006 11:45am

Just to add a reasonably sensible message and to appoligise for upsetting everyone earlier! I think your pitch has been a huge factor in your success in recent years, not slagging it because every team worth anything should have there home pitch suited to themselves! If it gets improved it means that better or even just faster teams will be able to expoit you with more ease!! Having a home pitch which you are used to and are comfortable playing on is worth a lot!!
The lord22/2/2006 9:31am

About the pitch...yes its bad!! It always has been but its the same quagmire thats been played on whilst gaining 3 promotions in 4 seasons and this has been a relativley dry season!!. A bigger worry for me is the standard of referees we get coming to officiate, who maybe dont have the same experience of a higher standard of rugby than the guys you get at away games. Just my opinion, from a smalll time club player/ supporter!!!
Jeremy Kyle22/2/2006 8:50am

Portonian, you sound really bitter about the fact that Caithness seem to be doing far better than Orkney at present, you talk about small club mentality while displaying a perfect example of this yourself with your ratty comments, take a good look at yourself.
Anson21/2/2006 9:13pm

A fair reflection on Saturday would be that Caithness failed to show the tactical awareness to win the game. A simple 10 man approach would have ensured that the necessary points were scored. Grangemouth were a man down (and latterly 2 men down) but spread there defenders well. A good rolling maul would have sucked them in and given us the space out wide to work a decent move and score. To be fair to Grangemouth they beat us with 14 men which is not an easy task. Very dissapointing for the Caithness players who have been very committed this season but promotion was the key goal this year and that has been achieved.
Webmaster21/2/2006 3:16pm

Be assured we do not censor criticism, only obscenities. However, given some of the rubbish which passes through our hands perhaps we should be more selective!
Might I suggest a more considered approach to the messages posted in the Guestbook would not only make interesting reading it might also serve a useful purpose.

For those who are not aware a comprhensive engineering study of the drainage requirements for the Millbank pitch has been undertaken, drawings and specification prepared and the works put out to tender. A representative of the Club is meeting with Sport Scotland this week to discuss funding options. It is generally agreed that an affordable solution has to be found and the sooner the better.
portonian21/2/2006 11:46am

yes whatever happened to the message i submitted yesterday? we are quite happy to allow your guys to express their views on our page, pity you cant say the same...small club mentality! you just cant beat it! theres only one team worth their salt in your area and they are across the pentland firth.
Mrs Doyle20/2/2006 11:29pm

Says a lot about you that you censor anything critical.

You got beat.

Groaty20/2/2006 5:03pm

Wooden spoon back in me pocket mission accomplished!!! wonder why there is not a name attached to that last posting?!
Groundskeeper Willie20/2/2006 4:36pm

The game was very dissapointing on Saturday, something needs to be done about that pitch if we are going to move up the divisions. More drains are a waste of time, the soil is clay not topsoil and there will never be enough drought in the winter to make it anything other than a glue pot. Supposing you put that crap back on top of a raised beach it would still be a skanky hole in the winter. Pitch first, clubhouse second!!
groatys a ****20/2/2006 11:58am

well done to everyone involved with caithness and good to see big crowd again lookk forwrd to seeing you in division two games next season
Anson17/2/2006 9:33am

12 teams in the league! That will put the pressure on the club enormously, both financialy and from the players personal point of view.
The Shape of Things to Come16/2/2006 4:37pm

Between NL1 and NL2 - 2 Clubs relegated and 2 Clubs promoted. Between NL2 and NL3 - 1 Club relegated and 3 Clubs promoted. Although it is early days, if the positions at the end of the season remain the same as at present, NL2 for 2006/7 season would look like this:
Annan
Duns
Garnock
Kilmarnock
Glasgow Academicals
Linlithgow
Howe of Fife
Stewartry
Allan Glens
Falkirk
Caithness
Highland

Hi
Can you tell us what time your game is on Sat against Grangemouth? A few spectators fae across the water may come accross if we know the time?
grange hill10/2/2006 12:53pm

Name: Hughes
Caitness - very big up front, excellent at lineouts and strong at scrum time. They love to catch and drive from a lineout near the try line. Good at the breakdown make sure you clean the 1st two men out.
fan10/2/2006 12:50pm

Caithness 23-12 away win against Hawick YM ensures that they will finish at least third in the league - with only Highland able to catch them and this gives them a second promotion in two seasons.

This is a great achievement for a club so far away from the rugby strongholds and it is a fitting reward for their coach Colin Sangster.

Their rise up the leagues of the team is a fairytale story in rugby and they deserve praise and regional recognition.
Anson9/2/2006 1:48pm

Does anyone know how next years league will work? Is it just the same as usual but with 3 up, 3 down or are the leagues being restructured?
E.Campbell4/2/2006 11:08am

Enjoyed the game against you at Hawick YM.
You are a much better team as the prevoius year and you should be able to survive the move up to Div. 2 without any difficulty.

This message was posted this pm, which I believe resolves the impending crisis. My understanding is the next compulsory date is 11/02/06 (Wales away): To: Secretaries of all clubs

Dear Secretary

Following the large number of representations we have received from clubs whose players and members wish to attend the Scotland v New Zealand match on Saturday, it has been agreed that the Saturday standby date will not be imposed as mandatory. It is recognised that a number of clubs will already have made arrangements and therefore those who wish to play on Saturday may do so, but for those who do not wish to play the fixture will be rescheduled to the next available standby date.

Could those clubs who by mutual agreement do wish to go ahead with fixtures this weekend please email frances.woodifield@sru.org.uk or fax 0131 346 5001 and advise us in order that the website can be updated and press advised.

I hope that you will support this decision which will allow those of us who wish to get behind Scotland to do so.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Congrats to the 1st the recent run of results and unlucky to the 2nds for the loss to ross sutherland. can the interested party please make themselves know to why you think i need to join weight watchers, when its more bulk to run the opposition over with. also unhappy 1st team player. dry them and let someone else who wants to play for the 1sts play the glorious game.
Supporter12/10/2005 10:38pm

Whether or not "unhappy person" was or was not in Glasgow is really irrelevant. His attitude is one that does not merit him a place in the first squad or even a membership of this club.
Jim MacMillan12/10/2005 10:28pm

See quote below from some 'unhappy person' the only time the first team have been 'disorientated' (Confused according to dictionary) was on the way to Helensburgh -following Evan to Kisyth was not the right way to go and we were all a bit confused for a while- one or two people also confused when Rizzer takes off up the park the wrong way

The person who made these remarks should stand up and be counted if they have a problem

Hows it going everyone?
To be honest, I have become disorientated with the happenings of Caithness Rugby Club as a whole.
I hope you guys lose today

A look at the picture on the front page of todays courier, shows the reason why our young hooker ( ie The Whaler) was so keen to go to wick last weekend. At least we know who to book as the stripper for his forthcoming birthday !!!!

"Unhappy 1st squad member" just for the record I did not at any time say I was a team player but just a loyal supporter of the club who has an interest in the success of the club. Something you obviously are not concerned with!
Growing Tired11/10/2005 10:37am

Jester change the record for once! Calling people virgins and telling them to dry their eyes seems to be the only words in your vocabulary!

Unhappy first team member. Look at your eyes, dry them!

Rooster4/10/2005 5:16pm

I am with the others Daniel Judge Budge is the player i feel should go into the hall of fame, if not for his exceptional skills and dynamics on the field but for the pure gentlemanliness off the pitch with younger members like myself and davvy and spectators.
Davvy4/10/2005 4:28pm

Daniel Budge is a legend! A true gentleman and scholar at the same time, surely he merits a place in the CRFC hall of fame??

main supporter29/9/2005 12:51pm

Why is the judge - budge not in the firsts? he is a true legend who is the only man to put opposition 2 yards backwards when they try and tackle him. Surely a man of his calibure should be in the firsts everytime he sets foot in Caithness. We are all aware he works offshore, however the muscel machine is back this weekend and he should be straight in the firsts team. No Question. I THANK YOU!

I would be very grateful if a player or club member could e-mail the the 1st team squad to me (studwalk@hotmail.com)
Russ22/9/2005 10:14pm

I always think its a good idea to get the other teams perspective, may give us additional information on how to improve our game. As for Highland, they may well of been short of a couple of players but that is a classic example of why the best squad will win this league and not the best 15. So on that note good luck to lads in the 2nds for the game against Craig Dunain on Saturday.
Literary Critic22/9/2005 3:55pm

Surely the purpose of the messageboard is to exchange views on these events though, nothing wrong with a good natured difference of opinion.
On the fence.22/9/2005 3:40pm

Listen guys two teams will always see the game from their own perspective, always has been always will be. Lets not get bitter about one guys opinion but congratulate ourselves on a great start to the season for both 1st and 2nd XV and great sessions and numbers at CLUB training.
A greens fan22/9/2005 3:23pm

Hey Rus
The Greens were down a few top players too!
anon22/9/2005 12:43am

i thought highland were fairly poor. the conditions probably favoured them as it levelled the teams. in good weather on a firm pitch the score would have been higher
Literary Critic21/9/2005 12:18pm

I agree, everyone seems to make a noise about how they cant play on the Caithness pitch yet Caithness seem to manage it week in week out without any problems....go figure?!
Sour grapes21/9/2005 12:01pm

Playing at highland on a good pitch Caithness will hammer them
Literary Critic20/9/2005 2:25pm

Only a team like Highland could follow up the statement "no excuses though" with several excuses in succession. Sour grapes of the highest degree.
Russ19/9/2005 6:09pm

Match reports are being posted on the SRU chatroom. Here is the report posted by the Highland Scrum Half.

Date: 19-Sep-05 12:28
Author: Craig Little
Subject: Highland vs Caithness
Well done to Caithness for there win at the weekend. Never an easy place to go to get a win. We travelled up without 7 regular first team guys - no excuses though. Caithness were tough up front and put alot of pressure on scored a their first try after charging a kick down 7-0.
Highland then added a bit of pressure, missed with an attempt at a drop goal and a penalty before scoring an unconverted try 7-5 at haltime.
Caithness had the wind at their backs and worked hard in the second half and scored to talk a 12-5 lead.
With about 5 minutes left and highland still in with a shout, caithness kept the pressure up and scored a third try from another charge down to go 17- 5 up.
A tough game and i dont think many teams will win up there on a heavy pitch in the pi**ing rain!!
looking forward to them coming to Canal Park where it shopuld be a different game.

Brizer16/9/2005 11:40pm

good start to the season lads !!! Hope to be up in Caithness more often now I have moved to Edinburgh from Aylesbury and I will come and watch the greens if I can. Also see the lads in The Comm for a few pales of beer !!!
