| PLAYERS RECEIVE AWARDS AT SPORTS DINNER |
| Fri 22nd May 2009 |
Caithness Rugby Club's Sportsman's Dinner in Thurso's Weigh Inn on Saturday evening was a resounding success.
Guest Speaker for the evening was Jim Calder, ex-Scottish intrnationalist and British Lion, and currently Scottish Rugby Union ambassador to the International Sevens Tournament.
Mr Calder, who was introduced by local MP John Thurso, gave an interesting insight into competition at international level and to the intensely competitive relationship between him and his twn brother, Finlay, also a Scottish rugby internationalist and victorious captain of the British Lions.
Auctioneer for the night was Iain Thomson and more than £9,000 was raised throughout the evening. The money will help fund a new clubhouse.
Pictures of the awards presentions are available here.
